30.0.30 (11/8/2022)

1. Fixed: A different fix for changing the sorting for library views not applying properly.
2. Fixed: Thumbnails were unconditionally erased when the image filename was changed whether they should have been or not. Affected the one time library update in Mac versions >30.0.25. If you were affected by this you can restore from a backup (with thumbnails) or rebuild your thumbnails.

Don't use the database which this version updates on a previous build unless you turn off auto-import or you'll get duplicates in your database.
12. Changed: Ventura breaks the fullscreen API MC uses so MC will not go to fullscreen on Ventura and above on this build (solves white screen issues). We hope to fix this in Ventura in a future build.
13. NEW: The library tool "Clean File Properties..." adds a function to convert decomposed utf-8 in tags to precomposed utf-8. This should only need to be use to clean up NAME tags when a file was originally imported without tags (which means the original NAME tag was built from the decomposed filename).

5. Fixed: Related Artists in Spotlight were not being retrieved.
6. Changed: When a file is imported without a name in the tags, a name will be generated from a precomposed version of the filename as opposed to the previous behavior generated from decomposed string.

Some feedback would be nice.
Fullscreen mode should be fine on 13.0 now and some of the improvements made to that could make things better in previous versions of MacOS as well.

Had an idea for a future feature being to broadcast itself as a HomeKit device for controlling via Home app and so it can be controlled via Siri to play pause volume etc similarly to HomePod commands. Basically make it present itself as a HomePod on the network that could also be air played to or from.

But you are not connecting to a Media Server on a different machine with this Mac, right?
The Library is on your local machine and the content is on the external drive or?
There's nothing read-only in this scenario is there?

Today I decided to check out MC3.0.30 and the following is a list of some of the problems I encountered.

N.B. Some of these problems Exsted in earlier versions.
In addition, I was also using/testing some new skins and TrackInfo plugins at the same time.

Using MC30.0.23:-
At present the 64,000+ files for my Music Collection sit on an External 8GB M2.SSD that I can attach to either my Win or Mac machines and since I'd updated a lot of metadata for those files, using the Win PC, I decided to clear down the Mac Library and then Re-import the files.
This I did in "Files View" and for some obscure reason MC would switch between telling me they were on 1 Volume and sometimes on 2 Volumes.

under the "Files View" seeing you have Volumes with a / and another with a \ if you select either, are there files in both? Any overlap if so?
How are you importing these files?
What's the volume format? ExFat??

When it was saying 1 Volume it was correctly reporting the volume name preceded by a forward slash but when the 2nd volume appeared the volume name was preceded by a back slash.
The other odd thing I observed was if I switched skins while the import was going on the progress information reported in the tree vanished but became visible again if I switched back to the initial skin.
Another oddity was when I switched to Display View - All I got was a view that was only showing the "Press Escape to exit...." message.

Display view while playing and importing at the same time? Was the player zone selected? It's normal to display that blank view and message when nothing is playing in the selected zone.

I then set MC playing and started to test it out.

I encountered a really odd thing that involved using a TrackInfo Plugin and having the tag window open in playing now and then switching to another view.
When the new view opened the TrackInfo Plugin remained visible above the top part of the screen for the new view.
The "solution to the problem" was even stranger, to get the TrackInfo plugin to disappear I had to open the Display in the Tree.

Can't say much about trackinfo and changing views yet. I've not had much time to work on that since I got trackinfo going a couple of major releases ago but looking at it is on my todo list.

Another problem I spotted was that the Vertical Gridlines used to separate Columns in several views are not being drawn properly, Bob - it's the part of the skinning engine that uses the "gridlines" value in the List section.

I'd guess that's a problem with retina scaling in MC.

Plus, it is impossible to get the pop-up player bar to appear in Cover View I tried fishing around at the top of the MC Window and above it with the mouse, but it never popped up, but it does pop up in Display View.

Not suprised. Cover View on Mac has issues.

In both Mini-View and Display View the Wrong Dropdown Menu's are being displayed those 2 should only have abridged versions of File, View and Player in the menu bar, instead they are displaying the full menu bar.

Will see if that can be done.

Other problems involving the TrackInfo Plugins:-
For some reason I can't work out the Horizontal Scrollbar is not appearing if/when I select Lyrics in 1 Column with Horizontal Scrollbar.
If/when I switch to a TrackInfo Plugin for a different "Theme/Skin" the Rating Images being displayed are either those for the previous plugin, or a mixture of some from the previous plugin and some for the current plugin on different pages.

Using MC30.0.30.

It's nice/cool that a pop-up window, like DSP Studio stays on top, but it has some disadvantages. If somebody decides to switch to another view while it's open it stays on top of that new view until the user closes it.

Just tested that on windows to compare. It's still there just underneath the other view. Pretty sure I know where to go at that, issues like this are bound to come up with the addition of using the Mac window layers.

The Command attached to the New "Restart MC" icon that can be added to the Top and/or Bottom Toolbars doesn't work (Matt added it way back in MC30.0.3)

Fixed that now.

Using MC30.0.30 and Ventura 13.0.1
I got brave, or should that be went insane, and let the mini update itself to Ventura even though Apple haven't yet officially released it.

Don't know if this was a reaction to just how long it takes to install a new OS update on the Mac but to me MC30 + Ventura appeared to be quicker. Especially when switching to views that used categories.
The one thing that did suprise me though was after closing down MC was just how much the OS was accessing the removable drive the media files was on; something that neither Win10 or Win11 does.

bob - the disk is formatted as ExFat as that Is the only one that will allow both the Win and Mac to read from and write to the files.
I was using the "Import a Single Folder" option and didn't click on either format if and when it was showing  both. I'm kind of guessing both were appearing when MC grabbed another batch/group of files to read as it went back to showing it only with the forward slash fairly quickly. Personally as long as people are aware that it is something that can happen I doubt if there its anything needs doing about it since the correct format is the only one showing when the import finishes.

Something I forgot to mention yesterday - Is there any particular reason why the Mac does not populate the Volume Name Field/Tag?

Oh that's during processing, that seems like something that should be easy to fix.

As for the Volume Name field, it's probably just because the code there is windows drive/share oriented. I'll take a peek at that too.
