Surround Sound Movies on 2ch device
« on: April 26, 2023, 08:43:11 am »

If I attempt to watch a movie encoded with 5.1 audio on my Mac Air I do not get any dialog. I get a bit of background noise which I'm assuming might be just one channel. How do I get full audio on these videos?

When I right click and select Streams I sometimes see multiple options but, all are checked and I don't seem to be able to deselect one or choose.

You are probably hearing left and right without the center.  All of the dialog is usually in the center channel.  Go to DSP Studio > Output Format > Channels .  Make sure it is set to "2 channels" and that you have JRSS Downmixing selected.

When you do this, MC will take your 5.1 channel surround and mix it into 2 channel so you can hear the dialog, surround effects, etc.

Best of luck.

Brian.

Many thanks. That did the trick.
