Somebody knows how to create a smartlist
that shows only 1 time the same artist ?

e.g. I want to create a playlist of the genre FUNK but I have 900 songs of Prince under FUNK.

Now I want a smartlist of 100 songs with that genre but that it lists only once Prince or another artist.

I want this too.  I do not think it is possible yet but I would love it to be...  Any chance guys?? A little tweak of the existing NoDups function to work in this way is all it would need...

i've asked for this before, and it seems like we're not going to be fortunate  .
I've think about a autosmartlist that is something like "one random song by every artist (and/or albums)". With that done, we could make several smartlists, like for genre, for artist, for hits, for date imported, one hour of funk songs, 50 songs rated 5, etc.etc.etc. I don't think that it's too much hard to program it, but i don't have no idea about programming, so maybe is hard.

This is not exactly what I meant.

I still WANT to see ONE song of e.g. Prince.

The rule you give eliminates all songs of Prince or whatever artist I have multiple songs of.

To make it more clear :

- I want my PC to choose random songs to play for e.g. a party.

- My library has about 10.000 songs which are about 1.000 songs of Prince

- I don't want my PC to play more then 1 Prince song in my list but 1 song is allowed.

- This also for all other artist I have more than 1 song in my library.

- So I want my PC to play only once Prince, Madonna, Lenny Kravitz, etc.

That's really different logic.  We'd need a new search modifier.

Aye, Matt,

I also brought up something like this a bit ago, and it is kind of funky logic.  Here's what I had in mind (if you're interested, that is.  Of course you are!  )

For the sake of argument, let's say that I have about two dozen albums in the "pop" genre.  Most of them are compilation albums, with many different artists.  Three of them are Christina Aguilera albums.  Again, this is all purely hypothetical.  Really.  It is!  Oh, anyway...

If I make a smartlist like this:  genre=pop ~t=120 ~sort=random, it will give me two hours of pop.  However, every time I refresh it, it will be very heavy with Christina Aguilera.  That's because I have three full albums of her and she also has some songs on a couple of the compilation albums.

So, what I'd like is a modifier that would limit input from any specific category (genre, artist, album, and so on) in a smartlist.  For example:

~example=[artist];[20] would make it so that no more than %20 of resulting tracks were from any one artist.  This modifier would be even better if we could get specific with individual artists:

~example=[artist];[christina aguilera];[10] would make Christina limited to 10% of all resulting tracks.

Here's another use:

Genre=[Classic Rock],[Grunge],[Punk],[Rock] ~example=[Genre];[Classic Rock];[5] ~sort=random ~t=120 -- This would give me two hours of various types of rock music, but would keep it really light on the classic rock.

I guess a good summary would be that it would be sweet to be able to assign "weight" or "clout" to the contributing (or limiting) factors of smartlists.
