Radio Streaming to DLNA Speaker in JRiver Media Centre 32
« on: June 04, 2024, 05:37:57 am »

Hello Everyone.
I'm a newbie and in the trial of JRiver media, love it, but and there's always a but right :). I am having an issue now with streaming internet radio stations to a Yamaha Musiccast 20 speaker.

They are DLNA or UPNP whatever you like to use. The files from my server play, no worries, and i am sure i was playing internet stations the other day ok. Now i find  the list of them that i saved, but they just continue to scroll through without playing, stop for moment and move to the next. What's going on there?

Must of changed something on my end, but i can't solve it. I did a reset of the speaker and went to radio paradise and it worked just fine, but when i tried the urls i added the same thing happened, and then radio paradise wouldn' t play.

Any ideas i should add all works beautifully with my wired DAC.  It's a DLNA or some network drama but files on the server play fine.

cheers

Dennis

Hi Dennis - Welcome.
Not sure you are in the right place with that question though... JRiver is controlling the source of the music and DLNA allows it to output to device like the Musicast 20. I have a double musicast 10 speakers - but yamaha has its own interet Radio source via the app - not related to JRiver and that includes a link for Radio Paradise. Is it possible you were accessing Yamaha's internet radio on the app and not JRiver Streaming?

Suggest you test a 'normal' network dlna connection by simplying a local sound file from your own drive over the DLNA to the Musicast 20 and see if that works as expected. if not there is a myriad of settings and jriver wiki files that run though that. Streaming inside JRiver and then across DLNA is not gauranteed to work (as compared to local stream to PC speaker/DAC) as it is like a double streaming scenario that is not really designed to do that... Good luck troubleshooting.

Hey David

Thank you for the heads up. I will do further testing, i can get Radio Paradise to work perfectly with album covers etc when using the mp3 settings in the DLNA but not with original format setting to play to Yamaha.

Cannot get those url streams to play no matter what i try, maybe Yamaha wont accept that way of delivering info. On the flip side i have 2 Sonos speakers different models and they work a treat play everything.

Thanks again

regards
