Moving library and music files between computers
« on: January 13, 2003, 05:23:27 pm »

am a registered owner of MC 9 and have been using it to build up a library. I have Ripped in about 150 of my albums and about another 1000 separate mp3's. I have done all this on my laptop.

I would like to move everything from my laptop over to my desktop and use MC there because of a lot more hard disk space.   I would like to keep  the same associations as currently exist in the MC9 library.

If I copy all the generated mp3's over and import, I lose the associations built into the library when I did the album ripping. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

You can copy the library as well.   Back the library up on the laptop then restore it on the new machine.  If the files aren't in the same paths they were in on the laptop (d:\music on the laptop but c:\music on the new machine), you can use the "find and replace" function to change the filenames in the library so they are correct for the new machine.
