noisy CD playing, missing mmjblaunch.exe file
« on: January 06, 2003, 07:18:38 am »

When I put any audio CD in my drive and try to play it, I get  painfully noisy results, and now an error message saying, "Windows cannot find mmjblaunch.exe" and asking for another executable.  I'm running mj 8.392 and Windows XP Pro.  Winamp and Windows Media Player don't have any such trouble.  Any sugggestions would be greatly appreciated.  THANKS.

The mmjblaunch.exe file sounds like a MusicMatch file.  Maybe Windows still has MusicMatch associated with CD's.  Try their support on that one.

For playback problems, try switching between analog and digital playback for the drive.  It's in MJ settings.

Thanks for the digital/analog playback tip.  That cleared up the noise.  I'm still puzzled by the mmjb.launch.exe message.   This is a new machine, and I've never had mediamatch installed.  I just restored a driver file, though, from a gateway disk that included mediamatch.  I wonder.
