Playlists - Using the same file several times?
« on: January 04, 2003, 06:34:37 pm »

I have several playlists that I imported into MC9. These playlists used the same short piece of music (same file) to separate groups of music. When the playlists were opened in MC9, all but one instance of the duplicate file had been removed.

Is it possible in MC9 to use the same song (file) multiple times in the same playlist? How is this set?

This option is important for the type of playlists I need to build. Thanks for the help.

Hi Canaro,
Sounds like you are splitting the Tanda' ;Ds
I would like to have the answer to this also.
To be able to repeat a song every fifth song. I will need this on Feb 14 when I will be DJ a Tango ball in Dublin on my return home from BsAs.
Thanks in advance

Gerry,

You're right. I'm using the same piece of music as a cortina to separate groups of songs for an evening's dance.

The only solution I could come up with (and it's a bogus pain) is to copy the file 27 times, use the rename utility I found in this forum (THANKS -- it's great and I'll be paying tomorrow). I named the files:

01 - 01 xxx.mp3
02 - 02 xxx.mp3

etc.

Steve, is there any chance of an option button to allow duplicate files in a playlist?

Thanks.

MJ/MC doesn't support the same song having multiple instances in a playlist. It's been requested numerous times by numerous people, but so far there hasn't been any luck. I believe the reasoning behind this is that it's not an easy fix.

Playing Now does allow multiple instances, though, so that's something. Maybe you could create the playlist as you want it in Playing Now, then export that playlist to an m3u or whatever, then just open that file rather than import it? Will that work?

Doof,

Thanks for the idea. I'm not sure it will work in my case: I download the evening's playlist to my iPod which I connect to the mixer and then use as my music source.

I'll play around some more.

Tangodude: I've create 27 file and name versions of the same cortina if you're interested.

Hi Canaro,
Thanks for the offer but I will probably go my own way with this. I hear at some Milongas they use different tunes.
Ps I just found la Negras last night the dancing was unbelievable there

Adios Tangodude
