Ripping "Greatest Hits" - Bug?
« on: November 23, 2002, 10:50:48 am »

I ripped a bunch of CDs to mp3 today with V9.0.082.  I noticed the ones that had "Greatest Hits" in the album title show up under "(Multiple Artist)" instead of the proper Artist Name. However, the Artist Name is correct in the properties for each song.  Is this a bug in V9?

It's ot a bug, it's a feature!

If the artists are different (even to the point of the cases being different or spaces being added or removed), MJ considers the album to be a "Multiple Artist" album and instead of placing the tracks in the individual artists' tree sections, it groups them together under the "Multiple Artists" group.

You can change this to follow the artist literally by editing the view scheme and replacing "Album Artist (auto)" with just plain "Artist"

Oops!  I thought it was a bug...lol

For the most part, it only makes a little sense to do it that way.  This only seems to apply to Greatest Hits.  Other compliations like Best of, Hits, Very Best, etc., are still showing up under the Artist Name and not in (Multiple Artists).  I just figured out how to turn it off, so I will do that.  Thanks again!
