Removing silence from songs.

What's up with removing the middle gaps?

I can understand removing silence from the beginning and end but why would you want to remove it from the middle? Would this not take away the intent of the song?

Could there be an option for the middle? I assume there was a reason behind this but I have some tracks with silence in the middle.

That, uh, could be an oversight.  We'll fix it.  Sorry to alarm you, Dave.

Silence suppression has always removed long gaps of silence in the middle of songs.

It's pretty nice for when artists do stupid things like put 20 minutes of silence followed by a hidden track at the end of a disc.  (I have a bunch of these...)

Hi Matt,

How long is long? I have some tracks that are silent for about 4-5 seconds. That sure isn't 20mins but I know what you're talking about.

Please oh please Matt, make me a true believer. I had my hopes up high when I read Jim's post. hehe..

(I'm a little crazy today...but don't tell anyone)

If it gets very quiet (no value over like .4% of the maximum) for 1/2 second, after that, it'll crop the rest of the "very quiet" passage.  You should never lose real music, and it seems to handle even classical music well.

Of course, if you ever hear a problem, let us know and we'll tune it up.
