Anyone found a better source for cover art online?
« on: November 22, 2003, 09:53:47 am »

Hey All,

I've just started ripping the first dozen CD's in my collection, and am worried about how few of them are finding cover art through the default "get from Internet" function in MC.  So far, I am getting art for about 1 in 3 discs.  I am using CDLobby as a gui and want to be able to sort and search through thumbnails of album covers, but if I'm going to end up with 2/3 blank thumbs I probably need to reconsider the current plans.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Is there another place i can go online where I might be able to fill in some of the missing art.  Or have i just started with some wierd discs?

Thanks

Charles

The cover art is:

(a) patchy in terms of coverage;
(b) often poor in quality;
(c) dismal in terms of actually getting the right album - quite often you get compilation covers instead of albums, box set covers etc.

As a result I tend to scan in most of my CD covers myself.  MC makes it easy to scan in a cover in a couple of button presses, and the results are much more to my satisfaction.  It's a shame I can't find any way to upload my scanned covers back to the database because it would be nice to feel I was helping to improve the experience for others.

go to allmusic.com (artist info button in MC will take you there. when you find your album, just right click on the cover art and copy to your clipboard. then go back to mc and past cover art.

I've found that Buy.com has good quality cover art (500x500) for most albums.

If you search back through threads on cover art, you can find some sources of high rez art if you want.

You might have to change the date option in your search though.

Wal-Mart  (www.walmart.com) site has very good Cover Arts (500 x 500). Why MC don't get Cover Art from Wal-Mart or Buy.com?
