Help: problem opening files and CDs
« on: December 20, 2002, 06:06:46 am »

I am having the following problem:

When double clicking on a file (MP3, AVI, etc) to open with MJ I get the following error "Unable to find C:windows/system/mediajukebox.exe".

Also I get the same error when I insert an audio CD.

I don't understand the error message, mediajukebox.exe is located in c:/program files/jriver not on the windows folder.  I tried to solve the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling (with express setup) but it continues.

Thanks in advanced,

Robert

On your desktop there should be "My Documents"...dbl clk on it...go to Tools>Folder Options>File Types. Scroll down to the extensions your having trouble with (ie mp3). Click on extension...it should say Opens with: mjextman. If it doesn't, then change it to that. If it does...then I don't know at this point (uninstalling/reinstalling should fix problem..but it didn't?).

10-27

PS: RealOne & WMP9 can cause association problems like this.

Thanks Xen

I tried all the solutions and nothing worked.

Afther long time looking I found the cause of the problem and the solution:

Delete the file mjextman.exe from the windows system folder and reinstall MJ.

This is a bug, afther installing MC9 and unistalling, it leaves the file mjextman on the windows folder.  When MJ is installed again it does not replaces that file.  Also when uninstalling MJ the file mjextman.exe does not gets uninstalled (that's why reinstalling didn't solve the problem).

Developers should look into this bug.
