C++ Buffer Overrun

Hi all: For a while since posting my last question about how to cure the crash mentioned above, I've just resigned myself to having to reboot my machine before firing up MC9.

I just downloaded the "latest stable build" of 9.1 and sure enough, when I start MC I get the error.

Has anyone solved this?  I really like MC, but this is a severe drawback to using it.

I would download 283 and see what happens. It's a pretty good build if you can install it.

When you post about an old problem, please find the old thread and use "reply".  That way, we may know more about the problem.

 :) Good news. Media Center has been behaving since yesterday. One major thing I did yesterday was get a firmware update for my CD-RW drive. I don't know if this was related, but so far 9.1 is running nicely.

If problems return I'll try the plug-in disable.

I have loved Media Center since the first time I've tried it.  The only problem was that I had to reboot before using it or it would crash with this same C++ Buffer Overrun error.

I tried everything that everybody suggested here, and nothing fixed the problem.  It didn't matter what version I used or if I did a complete uninstall/reinstall or deleted plugins.

A couple of nights ago, I ran a registry cleaning program (I won't say which or this will sound like a big advertisement).  There were more than 200 registry conflicts that it cleaned up.

Media Center has been working perfectly ever since, and now I finally feel like I can recommend this great program to people and I'm anxious to delve into the other features besides ripping music into an iPod.

If you were actually advertising a product MC's secret anti ad utility would have paralized your fingers and blue screened your computer.
