Dear JRiver,

There is a ID3 TAG that Windows Media Player 9 supports and Windows Media Center Edition uses to sort information on.

Will you PLEASE add the ability to edit tag TPE2 ('Band/Orchestra/Accompaniment') in Media Center???  It's an official ID3 tag.

There are a growing number of users who will be using Windows MCE and similar products.  I request that you add the ability to EDIT this tag, and similar set something so that it could AUTOMATICALLY SET TPE2 to what TPE1 is so that when 99% of the time they are suppose to be the same value you need not change it yourself.  HOWEVER I could live with the ability to just EDIT that field since your program makes mass tagging easy!

I bought this program hoping that it would meet my needs.  Well it's close but no cigar, yet.

I know this is NOT a huge request, it's just another field in the list and one more read/write of a tag field.

I am not the only person who would VERY much like to see this I am sure.  In fact, I am just now seeing many of my friends get into the HTPC setup and are looking for something to use to easily rip/tag CD's with.  I would certainly like to 100% recommend this product, it's JUST that tag that is missing to make it perfect for all of us MCE users (which they will be).

Please respond so I know if I would need to look for another tool to do massing TPE2 tagging or not.

That is GREAT news.  Thank you so much for replying (and so promptly).  This program will now be exactly what I was looking for!

And the new default skin is much nicer btw.

Here are instructions on how to add the "Band" field to the next build of MC:

1) If you are doing a clean install then the field will be automatically added to the list of default fields.
2) if you have MC installed already, there are two ways to enable the field:
a) Right click on the "Media Library" tree item and select "Reset all view Schemes to Default" menu item.
b) Add new field to MC's database: Tools->Options->Tree & View (don't forget to check "Store in file tags")

After that, MC will be able to read and write the TPE2 field.

Also, the new build of MC will support the following fields (only by using method 2-b): Conductor, Composer, Lyricist, Original Lyricist, Original Artist, Initial Key, Subtitle.

I got the new build (that was quick release).  I used the method 2a (only needed TPE2) and it worked great!!  I quickly tagged everything and put the drive in my Media Center Edition PC and it sorted and filtered everything perfect.

One thing I noticed.  It seems you do have MC set to set the TPE2 tag automatically from another tag on load, but it seems to draw from ALBUM NAME instead of ARTIST.  Just a simple bug fix for a new release
