Here's an interesting product...  http://www.truelaunchbar.com/plugins/winamp.html.

$20 is a bit steep, but I like the concept.

In theory this can already be achieved with a little bit of work within MC.

  • You create a set of task bar buttons set to control MC (I also have ones for rating the songs). - They give you: Play, Next, Previous, Stop, Pause (and whatever else you want).
  • You install: Playing Now plugin from Rhino - that tells you the song info

From what I can see that's pretty much that replicated but for free and more configurable :)

I have the eval version of TrueLaunchBar.  It's *awesome*, but I think $20 is steep for it. I can't understand why this functionality isn't built into Windows. I would love to get rid of that stupid Office toolbar in the upper-right of my screen, and this product would free me, but I still think $20 is steep.

Get rid of it. Put your app shortcuts at the base level (right click on the Start button>Open All Users) in your Start menu as shown...

It works great for frequently used programs.

You can also add the office apps to the quick launch bar (right click on far right edge>Open Folder).
