afterclick/noise when pressing stop
« on: November 15, 2003, 03:44:21 pm »

During the last 2-3 builds I have noticed that when pressing stop during playback, I get an annoying "afterclick/noise" when the music stops.

I have experimented with alternating between immediate stop, fadeout etc, and all settings give the same result - that annoying fragment of second of noisy music-click.

When I just press "pause" during playback, there is no after-click.

I also tried the "don't play silence" option in the settings, just for the heck of it, and no luck.

I did a clean, fresh install of 304.

What can be causing this - as this is a new phenomenon during all of these builds for me - and how can I handle it?

Switch playback between wav out and direct sound.

Try updating the sound card driver.

Disable any plug-ins.

Trying different buffering settings and/or playback devices might help as well. Might not, but it might.

updated the sound card driver.

Now it is perfect when I have "immediate stop" selected, but any fadeout setting still gives me the "afternoise".

Also with both waveout and direct sound selected.

There must be a way....but which?

It may be a sound card driver issue.

Maybe, but when I just updated to the newest driver available, I don't
know what else to do.

Sound card is Terratec DMX Xfire 1024.
