Name of burned CDs
« on: November 18, 2003, 03:40:38 pm »

Maybe this is a very stupid question, but I have been looking for two hours in this board, but I didn't find an answer to this simple question:

How do I change the name of a CD I want to burn from "NEW" to something else?

Edit the volume name on the tree [highlight NEW >press F2].  I have to agree that it isn't clear and perhaps there should be an option to edit CD disc name along with all the other options.

I keep forgetting to edit the name of the CD because it isn't in the burning options/settings menu.

I agree that there needs to be an easier way, or at least a clearer way.

Hmmm... that behaves strange on my PC.

I dragged files to the "Burn CD" field and clicked on continue when I was finished.

The CD was called "Compact Disc" in the tree under "CD, DVD & Handhelds".

When I tried to edit the name it always switched back to "Compact Disc" when I hit enter...  >:(

I started burning anyway, and the last name I tried to enter was used, although it wasn't shown before everything was finished.

I think MC requires you have the media to be burned (ie., a blank disc) in the burner drive before it will allow you to rename.

I had a blank CD-R in the drive...

I will test it again, but at least my burned CDs will not all have the name NEW anymore now...  :D
