OT - Elvis Costello's North--can it be ripped?
« on: December 18, 2003, 05:52:34 pm »

I just purchased this as a Christmas gift for my partner, but I will return it if it can't be ripped. (Of course, I can't see for myself, because once opened, you can't return it).

If this is relevant, it's a Super Audio CD. It says it "Plays on SACD & CD Players"

You can always return it, and if your willing to act like a fool you will always get a new CD.

you just need to scream alot and threaten them

It seems that most stores no longer allow returns of opened music and software because of the potential for abuse.

I don't know if your SACD is rippable, but I do have North mp3s @ 320bps.

Listening to: 'When Did I Stop Dreaming' from 'North' by 'Elvis Costello' on Media Center 10   :)

Were you able to rip the SACD audio (24/96) or just the CD audio (16/44)?

OK, now your just asking me a question that is out of my realm of thinking... (Wasn't to hard was it.)
 ;D

All I know, is I ripped it to APE and cannot hear a difference.. I do not have a SACD player to put it on.

I just a VERY good deal on the CD's.

I _believe_ that is correct. SACD contains both SACD music and regular CD music. If you put it in the computer or play it in a standard CD player, you rip the CD music only.
