ASPI really needed?
« on: December 21, 2003, 01:32:09 pm »

Running Windows 2000 , i just realized that i do not have any ASPI installed.

Beside it i did rip TONS of cds with good results
And i did burn MP3cds who have no problem.

So ,here is my question : do i need it?

Rip and burn done with only MC9 and 10

Your using the MC's internal version. ASPI in one form or another is needed. Vermaje is using the external Adaptec version...and it is old. I think the update will cure his woes, or we could have suggested he use the internal.

There is another problem : his burer is not see in MC.

Anyway ,as you saw i gave him answer in french concerning ASPI and we will see the result...

Concerning my" sweet myself" : in your opinion ,better to install the ASPI ?
Not sure about to install the last one who, according to many is not that good, but the 4.60 version.
By the way ,this version is very easy to install using ForceASPI litlle application

How do you tell MC to use external vs internal ASPI implementation?

Appears that MC is hardcoded to use the internal version. Couldn't find an option to select.

10-27

edit: External ASPI may be grandfathered in...as in Vermaje's case.

If it runs correctly without it, then I guess not. I would still have 4.71.2 installed, though (who knows...you might need it someday).

You are right about it.
But other programs like dbPowerAmp or MusicMatch do work as well without..interresting enought...

I saw that 4.71.2 has his fair share of problems.
On many forums ,they say to stay with 4.60.

Any hint ,who the one who hang around at Hydro  and understand all the posts :) ?
..not my case , far from it.

Beside it ,i do not like people speaking of music instead of  just listening to it....With all the tests they do ,can be that they even do not have time left to listen to one album a week....

Would be nice to have what you asked for concerning forum/mozilla family
