Can't play or rip 2nd CD of a 3 CD boxset
« on: January 01, 2004, 11:45:52 am »

HAPPY NEW YEAR everybody!!

I run into a problem, where I cannot play or rip the 2nd CD of a 3 CD boxset. When I try to play, I get an error saying:

---
Media Center encountered an error while trying to play the last several files. Please make sure the path in your media library points to the right direction.
---

If I try to rip the CD, I see the following error:

---
Read track failed. Parameter is out of range.
---

The problem seems to be due to the fact, that the 2nd CD track numbers dont start with 1, the first track in CD starts with 14!

Any hints are welcome.

Please note that I am able to play the CD using i.e. Windows Media Player.

I am using (always) the latest build of MC 10 beta. But I remember this problem was seen back in MJ 8 also. I just did not report it...

Thanks

Have you tried ripping the CD using other software?

No, so far I did not find a way to rip the 2nd or 3rd CD. Also it's very strange with the playback. I.e. CD2 playback using Media Player v8 works - but - only the 1st 4 tracks are played !? But I was able to copy the CD using CloneCD without any problem!? It seems that my PC CD players (DVD and burner) are getting confused by the continues tracking numbers. Will investigate tomorrow with different (older) PC players. I will post my findings here...

I have also run into some sort of copy protection that only allowed a PC to see like the first 4 tracks and not the next 6.
Only work around was to use the included player they were so kind to provide   :-\
Although some software and drives did manage to rip it after all.
