All .m4a files imported with 0:00 duration

All of the .m4a files that I have imported in 10.0.38 have a duration of 0:00 ... Any ideas ?

Check the iPod thread in the MC 9 forum for more info...but to sum it up, you must first sync at least one of the .m4p files to the iPod via iTunes before you can sync an .mp4 files via MC.  It's because there has to be a particular file on the iPod in order for it to play .mp4 (.aac) files and that file gets placed onto the iPod when you use iTunes to copy over .mp4 files, but MC does not put the file on the iPod. Once you've copied at least one .mp4 file to your iPod via iTunes, then you can copy the rest over via MC and everything should work fine.

Do you have Quicktime installed? If so, what version?
