Copying from Ipod to Hard Driver
« on: January 20, 2004, 02:31:41 pm »

I recently reinstalled XP on my Dell 8100 Desktop and also installed a USB 2.0 card.  I got my mp3 files onto my ipod from my laptop and would now like to copy from ipod onto C (the computers are networked, but not all of the music is on my laptop anymore).

First, will MC recognize and allow me to use the ipod without intializing it even though the ipod has never been used with my desktop?

Second, how do I copy to C:?

Lastly, how will I tell it to make directories and folders?  I know that I would like to stick all of it into one folder entitled music and then have it subdivided by artist, album, and then the files titled by song name.  Thanks for your time.

If you have never used iPod with MC, then no. If you have, then yes.

Right click on the files and select 'Download to PC' from within MC's iPod view.

After the files are on your PC and recognized by MC, select the option for 'Rename Files from Properties'

Thanks... I have used it with MC, but only on my laptop.  Will that do?  Second, when you say I should rename files from properties, will it actually create folders for artists, then album, then song.  Thanks so much.

Is this fairly new or have I been asleep for a long time? It used to be you couldn't do this. This is great!
