Hi all,

I purchased a v8 licence a few months ago and will want to migrate to v9 once it becomes a bit more stable.

I'm still confused (even after reading the FAQ etc.) if I need to pay any additional money to use v9 ?

Also, people seem to be referring to an email they have received from JRiver - but I have not received anything (does this mean I won't need to pay any more money).

A NEW VERSION, MJ 9.0, is in beta and is now stable. It will be released in January as JRiver Media Center. Its features compare well with Windows XP
Media Center -- more below. MC will be priced at $39.98 on release, but we have a better offer for you now.

First of all, I'd like to say that I just downloaded and installed 9.0.82 and am very impressed by it and like the direction it is taking.

My question is how do you keep track of who used 9 before December 1? I purchased MJ 8 in early October under the impression that I could then use 9 without any additional payments when it released (I didn't want to purchase 9 directly because I didn't feel it was stable enough yet for everyday use).

Anyway, to summarize everything into one question, will my restores still work for MJ 9 (or JRiver Media Center) after a reformat or something similar?

I'm going to lock this thread because it's adding to the confusion.

We can't make guarantees for what will happen a year from now or more.  Your V8 license will be fine for the release version of 9.0.
