Problem playing mpc
« on: February 28, 2004, 01:36:18 pm »

Hello,

I can't play several mpc files in Media Center 9.1.316. They can be played in foobar2000 and even in Zoomplayer as I installed the RadLight mpc Directshow filter. The files were encoded with these parameters:

Used output format : C:\Program Files\Exact Audio Copy\mppenc.exe   (User Defined Encoder)
                     192 kBit/s
                     Additional command line options : --quality 8 --xlevel --ape2 --artist "%a" --title "%t" --album "%g" --releasedate "%y" --track "%n" --genre "%m"

Any ideas? - Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

just a crazy idea - have you tried to remove the tags in MC and then
retag?

I have only mpc files in my library and all of them play fine in MC 9.317.
However, these were primarily encoded with the internal mpc encoder, based on the 1.1 version of the encoder.

thanks for your idea - just tried it out, didn't work  :-\

edit: maybe this is indeed an issue. MPCscan remarks "invalid MPC, contains ID3v2 tag!" even about those files whose tags I removed in MC! Nevertheless MPCscan's bottom line says "Scanned 1 file, no errors found."  ?

that's mysterious - but it does sound tag-related though.

Do you get confirmed in MC that the tag actually gets removed, and do you check after that the tag isnt there - before you tag the file again?
