rip CD -> crackling audio playback?
« on: March 12, 2004, 10:31:01 am »

Lately, if I'm playing audio (mp3 format) and try to rip a CD at the same time, the audio starts crackling and doesn't stop until I cancel the CD rip. As of about a month ago, this wasn't the case. Either something changed in my MC config or on my system. Does anyone have any ideas? I searched the forum with no success.

To clarify... the audio that is ripped from the CD turns out fine, it is the audio that is currently playing to my stereo via MC that starts crackling when the ripping starts...

udueps

check your processor usage when ripping the CD. if im running multi tasks and it pushes the processor to 100%. MC playback starts to suffer - there are periodic (but very short) silences.

Thanks Pip. Processor usage is normal. MC is the only program I've got running. It's not so much a buffering type of a thing (I think!), it's more that the audio gets crackled. It's not really skipping like it would with a buffering problem....

Thanks for the suggestion, though!
