New Feature: Custom Ratings
« on: March 14, 2004, 01:03:30 am »

Would it be possible to have a new feature of 'Custom Fields', which would allow you to specify a graphical rating field of your own making, eg 'Album Rating' or 'Artist Rating'?  I think it would be really handy...   :)

Anyone else think so?

Yes, this would be a big asset, especially, if you could edit them by album or artist and ONLY by associated album or artist.

It's a good idea, and something we can consider for MC 10.1.

Remind us once we get back in the swing of feature development.

Thanks!

Another suggestion i woud like to make regarding ratings is Album rating.

it takes an avg of all the tracks in an album that are rated. Makes it very easy to pick out best albums by genre, artist, year etc.

if not all tracks are rated then Album Rating for that album is incomplete.

Its possible to do this by creating a custom field currently and entering values manually which is a pain also if track ratings change then album ratings are not updated.

what do ppl think ?

How do you create a custom field? I think a very useful field for me would be instrumental vs. with lyrics (maybe language). Sometimes I need a playlist of things that have no words, so I can concentrate on writing.

Thanks!

Go to 'Options\Tree and View' where you will see a list of all the fields currently in use throughout your library.  Click 'Add', and fill in the details...  I think the basics of that dialogue box are covered in the help files.

You don't know by chance if there is any software that can separate songs that are instrumental after some audio analysis, do you ?

Thanks!

Heh Heh.. No, I don't!  Though I'm not very up to date with the various mp3 utilities that are out there, so maybe you should start a new topic with that as a question....
