Drives other than C:
« on: March 12, 2004, 07:06:50 pm »

I can't seem to get Media Center to list any hard drive other than C on my system. I am using the latest Beta version 10. Media Center recognizes my drive C:; my zip drive G:; my DVD drive E:; my CD drive F:; and my card reader drives H:, I: and J:. However, it does not recgonize my scond internal hard drive D: or my extrernal firewire drive K:. Anyone have a suggestion?

d: 80 gig IDE raid controler (two 80 gig drives)
e: 160 gigs firewire
f: 160 gigs firewire
g: 200 gigs IDE on board controler
h: 300 gigs firewire

no problems.

Can you see the D Driver in Windows Explorer?

Are you using Raid?

Is it the same file system (NTFS or FAT32) as the C?  (Though I don't think that should matter)

Post your system info here from MC help.

No idea?  If no one responds with an answer I'd back up your library and the Media Centre Data directory before uninstalling and reinstalling MC.  See if it's fixed before you reinstate your library and the data directory.

Sorry, Can't think of anything else but at least I bumped your thread.

Thanks, I think that I'll wait until the final upgrade before doing the uninstall and install.

Are you looking in "Media Library" or in "Drives & Devices\My Computer"?

"Media Library" only shows paths to imported files if that could be it.

Otherwise, I'm not sure.  Does Window's Explorer show everything as expected?

I am looking in Drives & Devices, but the drives are not showing. They do show in Windows Explorer and I also use My Powerdesk. I can also browse to them through the File option of any program. It is only MC does not see the drives.

Hmm, maybe it was Gremlins.

Either way, it's good that it's working, and thanks for letting us know.

not that it explains why the internal HDD wasnt recognized, but ive noticed that if you plug in an external drive MC (ive tried CD, DVD, HDD) wont recognize it unless the progrm is closed and restarted.

I suspect that My Powerdesk is causing these problems for you.

I don't know how My Powerdesk would be connected. It is a great file manager, and I have been using it for years. The only program that was not reading all the drives was MC, but with the release of the latest beta, it is no longer an issue.
