If "04 - far - monkey gone to heaven.xxx" is the filename, then:

Tools > Library tools > Fill Properties From Filename>
Filename:  [Track #] - [Artist] - [Name]

If "04 - far - monkey gone to heaven" is the contents of the "Name" tag and the filename is different, you must rename the file first:

Tools > Library tools > Rename Files From Properties >
Filename Rule:  [Name]

You know what would be nice? MC should remember the patterns that you most frequently use to parse the filenames, and 'suggest' them...

The first one is a feature of tag&rename that I really like. The suggestion part would be totally new.

It does not 'suggest them', but it does keep a running list of the ones you have used recently.  It is under the presets drop-down.

I just discovered this a couple weeks ago, and I love it.  I have thousands of songs from ripcast, and they all seem to have little differences in the filename structure.  So the presets helps me pick the right one for the batch of files I wnat to update, VERY handy.  Give it a try.

Using Library Tools...'Fill Properties from Filename' or 'Rename Files from Properties' (which I think is what you want)...click the drop-down arrow, and select 'Presets'.  They will be in the order of most recent use.

If the "Name" tag is "04 - far - monkey gone to heaven" and it's not the filename also, then you must first rename the file with Rename File From Properties.

Second step is to Fill Properties From Filename.

Just try it. It can't be so difficult.  ;)
