View Scheme Problem - Playing Now Overload
« on: April 28, 2004, 03:11:31 am »

I hope someone can help me...I'm having a problem with my View Schemes. Everytime I select an individual song to play - my entire library ends up in the Playing Now Directory. I would post screen captures of my setup but I don't think this forum supports attachments. So, here's a description of what I've done;

First I deleted all default views leaving only the Media Library with no sub-views

Then I....

Edit Media Library View as follows:
    Step 1 Preset:  Artist/Album
    Step 2 Name:  Media Library
    Step 3 Properties: Image:  Scheme
               Tree Position:  Automatic
               Populate Tree: (Unchecked)
               Honor Parent:  (Unchecked)
Step 4 Files to Show:  Search

Add View Scheme to Media Library as follows:
Step 1 Preset:  (Custom) see below
                              Genre
                              Album Artist (auto)
                              Album
    Step 2 Name:  Audio
    Step 3 Properties: Image:  Audio
               Tree Position:  Automatic
               Populate Tree: (Unchecked)
               Honor Parent:  (Unchecked)
Step 4 Files to Show:  Audio

Add View Scheme to Audio as follows:
Step 1 Preset:  Album Artist (auto)/Album
    Step 2 Name:  Album/Artist
    Step 3 Properties: Image:  Audio
               Tree Position:  Automatic
               Populate Tree: (Checked)
               Honor Parent:  (Unchecked)
Step 4 Files to Show:  Audio

I repeatedly clear the Playing Now contents, click and play a single song in the Artist/Album View Scheme (or any other level for that matter), and the Playing Now Directory is immediately filled with my entire audio library. The View Schemes listed above are the only views in my Tree. I am using version 10.0.116 and my collection consists entirely of .wav files whose naming convention has been converted using the Fill Properties From Filename funtion in the Library Tools.

Thanks so much in advance for any assistance you may be able to offer. I have screen captures of all my setup screens, as well as my Directory Tree, if anyone feels it might make diagnosing this problem any easier.

Thanks again

im surprised no one has replied to this yet. do the following:

tools > options > general > behaviour > change double click from replace playing now (all) [im guessing thats what you have] to replace playing now (single)...

that should fix the problem, if i understood it correctly...although i actually like the default setup personally

pipsqueak,

Thanks so much for that solution. That's exactly what I needed.

I've always thought that "Replace playing now (single)" should be the default. It confused me when I started using MJ.
