Getting Decoder Error Message
« on: November 16, 2002, 11:10:45 am »

I am suddenly getting a decoder error message when I try to burn cds.  Everything works fine when I rip, but as soon as I go to burn, the very first track will give me a decoder error message, and then mj freezes.  I'm using mj8.

I think it started after i used another program to burn a data disk.  I've sinced deleted the other program, but am still getting the message.

It may have corrupted MJ. Post your sys info (Help>System Info).

Do the Backup License...Uninstall MJ...Update ASPI (if not v4.72)...Reinstall MJ...Restore license.

I uninstalled and updated my aspi, but I'm still getting the same message.  The only new thing I've learned is that when I decode the files prior to attempting a burn it works, so it must only be something with the auto conversion part of the burning process.

What is the error message you're getting?
What format are the files that you are burning?
Is there the possibility that just one of the files is the culprit? Maybe try eliminating one at a time (with burning in test mode so you don't create coasters).

The error message I'm getting is simply:  "Decoder Error".  It happens on any cd I rip since I used that other burning software.

I convert into wma.  If I rip as a WAV it's fine, so I'm able to work around the problem.  It's just extra steps.  I haven't triep converting to another encoded format yet.  I'll go try that now.
