Saving configuration in Library possible?
« on: November 10, 2002, 01:01:58 am »

I have different kind of librarys created (one for music files, one for video clips for example)

In the Video-Library i do not need the "Album" column.
But if i disable this column, it is also disabled after loading the music library.
Is it possible to associate the "view of columns" and the setting for "file extensions for import" with the according library.

If not - it is a point of my wishlist.

Regards
Andreas

I am a registered user of Media Jukebox.

The only way to get support for this software
is to post in this forum.

I assume, that someone of JRiver is reading
in this forum to spend the support.
I asked a question. And no one answers.
If this ist J. Rivers policy for satisfied customers ít´s
ok for them - but it´s not my point of view of a good support.

I don´t think, that your answer is the right one for a Mod.
Next time when i think about purchasing a software,
i´ll check the support first.

(Sorry for my bad english, but it´s not my native language)

Sorry You Feel That Way.

I could not make Sense of your Original Message Or The Last.

And the Attitude You displayed in your second message did not require a response with any type of intelligent info other than the one I gave.

Not everyone knows the answers to every question that is asked by a user. If not you may not get a response from other users.

Andreas - if I understand your first post correctly, Im afraid it is not possible to set the columns or file extensions you want to disable for different libraries (or view schemes within libraries). For columns, this has been requested for MJ version 9, now in beta.

This forum is read by many JRiver people from the CEO down, and by experts in MJ. Look at the MJ v9 beta forum if you want to see how responsive they are. You will get the answers you want here, but sometimes you have to wait a while (especially on Sundays).

Hope this helps - BTW Im not a JRiver employee

I've been browsing the forums myself this past week, and feel this is the time and place to chip in with my tuppence worth......
I also posted some pertinent questions, and these were ignored also. I appreciate the difficulty on the support staffs hands.... ie. folk posting questions before searching or reading the FAQ's etc, but there are many threads around covering the same topics, and the some areas of the FAQ pages are a little confusing.
Before purchasing media jukebox, I searched and read as many reviews as I could find, and one thing they all mentioned was the "excellent support provided in the help forums". I would not class the level of support as "excellent", I feel words like "patchy", "erratic", "selective" would better describe the support level.
I believe you have a great product here, hence the reason I paid for it, shame about the massive confusion generated over v8 & v9 liscences, shame there are some aspects of the program both myself and firefighter (to name 2) are having trouble with, but are unable to get support for.
The above response from a company moderator to a paying customer is surely not the impression you want to create and have passed around? Perhaps it would have been mildly ammusing had it been followed up by an attempt to actually offer the customer the support he asked for?
=============
I will continue lurking, and as I learn more about the way media jukebox works I'll try to help out answering questions where I can, but surely, as a customer, that is not my primary role here, I would expect company staff, whose primary role it is, to lead by example.
=============
I feel better for getting that off my chest!!
