JT Random Rating Sorting
« on: May 03, 2004, 07:57:40 pm »

I've posted this a while back, but I thought I'd mention it one more time.

Would you guys be able to make smartlists handle sorting a little better with the [Random] keyword?

I would like to sort my playlist by [Rating], then [Random]. But it don't work. It appears that [Random] currently only works when on it's own.

You must have missed my old response.

You can get just what you want by adding two sort commands to the playlist so it shuffles before the rating sort:

~sort=[Random] ~sort=[Rating]

Hope that helps :)

Oh okay. Sorry, yes I did miss this the first time around.

To this is a different mechanism to the normal sort command "[Rating],[Random]" ?

This is a special case where you need two separate sort commands.  Since [Random] isn't really a sort command, it's treated differently and can't be combined with other commands.

okay I understand. Thanks very much for you help. It's a very good product, and had no hesitation spending the money to purchase it.

awesome matt thanks very much

I have been looking for a way to do this for a while I missedthe original post as well.

speaking of which, is there any way using the search function to only find topics.  what I mean is that instead of finding every post which references your keyword, simply get a list of topics in which is mentioned?

thanks again
