did you try either the "rip CD" or "copy CD" (depending upon which version you're using) button on the taskbar?

I think he might be trying to burn a CD, but I'm not sure.

Maybe you want to rip a CD, that is copy its content to your hard drive in mp3 or whatever format, do you ?

To do so, you don't press a Record button in MJ unlike some other software.
There is no Record button in the player window as you've noticed.
What you do is use the "Tools/Copy(rip) CD..." command
you will then be presented with a CD Copy Window where you can set various Options (Option button)
and when you're set just press the Copy button, that's it.

You can also check  "Help/How To/Copy (Rip) CD..."  you'll find more infos there.

let us know if you made any progresses.
