DVD Current System Region Problem!!
« on: June 21, 2004, 08:48:45 pm »

Hi
When I go to watch some DVD's I get this message.

"This DVD cannot be played, because it is not authored to play in the current system region. The region mismatch may be fixed by changing the system region (with dvdrgn.exe.)"

I have searched for this file but have been unable to find it. Would you be able to help me please? Is there anyway of changing the settings in MC?
Thanks

i dont think its a MC setting. it sounds like you need to change the drives region setting. you should be able to do this in control panel. but remember that without using software / flashing the firmware you only get 5 changes per drive, so be careful...

Hi Pipsqueak

Thanks for your reply.
Where exactly in the Control Panel can I change the regional settings?

control panel > sounds and audio devices > hardware > select the DVD drive > properties > DVD region

However, a screen should pop up automatically when you insert a disc from a new region...

remember you've only 5 changes. its probably worth reading about cracking that with software or flashing the firmware (at own risk!) so that you can continue to alter regions past the usual 5. There's loads to read online, just google "DVD region crack" or  "DVD region firmware" or similar

Disclaimer: Mods, please feel free to delete/ modify this post if he content bothers you.

There's a great software that disables the hardware/software region lock of your DVD drive: AnyDVD. It's made by a company named Slysoft. Check it out, it will definitely take care of your problem.

Hope it's okay for me to post this info on this forum,
