Formatting Date

I would really like to change the date from it current format which shows the date, time, seconds...  It would be nice to have a short 01/01/02 type date, to take up less column width (so I can show more things).  Anyway to change that date format?

Doesn't look like. It's not in options anywhere and it doesn't abide by the OS (W2k in my case) date format.
