Weird problem with album cover image in the TrackInfo window...

When using Track Info as my display plug-in (with several different TrackInfo pages), most album covers seem to display properly, and when there is no album cover the default cover/logo appears.  However, for a bunch of tracks that DO have album covers, the image shows up as the white box with little red x.  I know these tracks have exernal album covers b/c I can view them using ActionWindow>FileProperties>Image.  

I can't find anything about the cover art that the problem tracks have in common -- image dimensions are not huge, file size not huge, file format are jpg - so these  are no different than for the tracks that aren't working.

Anyone know what might be causing this?
