How to extend Media Server for new convergence devices?
« on: June 16, 2004, 02:10:28 pm »

To all of our developers out there,

I'm trying to extend MC10 to support the new media gateways such as the Linksys WMA and the Dlink DSM unit.

I've seen several plug-in kits, but none really seems suited to support this.  Am I missing something?  The interface plugin gives me access to libraries, but not encoding and or MC10 server functions.

Any ideas?

We hope to allow Media Server plugins for devices like this in the future.

It's too early to say when.

Does this mean it's too early to share the Media Server protocol documentation?  I'm thinking of writing a client for a non-Windows OS.

Add one more vote here -- I would love this client on Linux OS machines or Pocket PC.
