Problem Streaming some MP3s on Media Server
« on: November 07, 2002, 01:19:44 pm »

Every once in a while, an mp3 in my collection will not stream from my media server. The same MP3 will play fine on Media Jukebox on the server. But it just says buffering for an instant, and then stopped when I try to stream it.

The mp3 file when analysed by mp3 trim or helium appears to be fine.

Any idea what the problem could be?

I know nothing about Media Server but....
Does it hang on the same files or is it totally random? Is there anything about these "hangers" that is unique (for example - bit rate...size...location...etc)?

One of the problem files was ripped by me using MMJ mp3 160kbps. I have ripped thousands of songs with the same spec that stream fine.

There must be something unique about this and other files that will not stream... because they consistantly will not stream. Trying to figure out what that something is.

Possibly filename or tagging (use of extended characters?)

What happens with a "hanger" if you rename it to test.mp3 (for example) and/or simplify the tags (or remove the tag contents entirely)?
