Slow/distorted playback problem
« on: September 03, 2004, 12:53:10 pm »

Hi.   I'm having an intermittent playback issue with MC10.  I'm using an RME soundcard's digital output to an external DAC with MC10 outputting through ASIO.  Occassionally (and I haven't yet figured out exactly what triggers it) playback suddenly gets slowed down/distorted (like if you had the setting on a record player set too slow).  This continues even if you change tracks but if I restart MC it is back to normal.  I can't tell whether only ASIO does it... so far I haven't had trouble with another setting but it was only occassional with the ASIO setting, too.  (It would be fine for many hours of play and then all of the sudden switch to being slow).  Does anyone know what causes this?  I tried to do a search here but all that came up was reports of slow interface or slow ripping, etc...   Thanks.

I've witnessed this before and don't have an answer though it's possibly related to ASIO.  I thought it was just me (M-Audio Revo).  I posted that I've witnessed the same slowdown every so often when burning CDs - once in perhaps 30 tracks burned, the beginning "glitches" and then slooooows down, only to speed up over ten seconds or so.  This exact behavior has happened very, very occasionally when listening to CDs with a 4-second crossfade.  I attributed it either to ASIO, to the fact that I primarily burn/play lossless WMAs, or both.  Have you noticed it with different file types (mp3's, etc.)?
