Volume and Mute Problems
« on: November 02, 2002, 04:41:09 am »

The volume and mute controls in MJB 8.0.388 don't work on my system.

They do affect the "Volume Control" column on the system's Volume Control utility (the one in the task bar). However, the sound card is controlled by the "Wave" column on the system's Volume Control utility and MJB doesn't affect it.

MusicMatch, RealOne, WMP, Winamp, and everything else controls the "Wave" column, but not MJB.

I've tried changing the Playback > Output settings in MJB with no change in results.

I have WinXP Pro and a Hoontech i-phone digital XG audio card that looks to the system as a Yamaha DS1x.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

While some of us would also prefer that MJ control (or be configurable to control) the Wave input of the mixer instead of the master output, this actually sounds like a problem with the sound card driver ignoring "Play Control".   I'd check for driver updates.

You were right -- sort of. I discovered I had a driver for the wrong model card. When I installed the latest correct driver, MJB would control mute but not volume.

Go figure.
