REQ: Display Date Imported as a Date?
« on: February 07, 2004, 07:32:51 am »

How do you get MC to display the Date Imported column as a Date (like the name suggests) and not the silly 'secs/mins/days ago' format?

Guess...it's not possible...

So, can we get a column like this and rename the current Date Imported to "Relative Time Since Imported" (that's really what it is showing currently)?

ZRocker,

Can't answer your question, but I would really like to have a real date in that field as well. I have a smartlist set up to play "new" files from emusic, but I want it to include files I started importing last November. The current import date, being relative, can't get me to November without my changing the rule every few days!

You can't pick formatting of a field.  It's something we've toyed with, but configuration would be hairy if you wanted to look at a field different ways in different areas of the program.

Ok...can we just have another column (new name) for this item that displays the Date Imported as a Date...just change the current one to display as a Date?

What's the current status on this?  I'm interested in getting the actual "date imported", not the relative time since imported.

Thanks

Count me in on this one...MC's date handling has always been a weak spot...like the only weak spot!

DATES!!!!

Oh what bliss it would be to search for "Date Imported > 1/1/2004" instead of "Date Imported > 123456"

DATES!!!

Why must the user find their calculator application to count how many seconds?

:(

I'd give my right-mouse button for some user-friendly date handling! :)

Best,
Brad

Just checking in again on this...

Can anyone comment on:

1) When I might be able to get the actual "date imported", not the relative time since imported.

2) Why "date imported" works the way it currently does (ie, why does it not display a date?)

Thanks

Count me in as well.  I posted on a few other date related issues as well tonight   :P

This is one of the few areas where MC needs some real improvement.

If it has to remain relative, as Matt seemed to have suggested, then can it at least only display the date and not minutes/seconds? I have a View Scheme that displays Date Imported, and if I were to look up yesterday with the notion that I could select all newly imported files and create a playlist with them, well, bascially, I can't do that. The files are displayed as:
23:31
23:32
23:33
23:34
etc...
So I have to click on each item individually.
