OT - Calendar/Project Software
« on: November 24, 2004, 01:16:15 am »

Does anyone know where or how or what would be the best affordable office project and calendar management software. Ive looked at MS Project, and it is quite nice, but is obviously way over budget for the non-profit organization I work for. Any leads or suggestions will be helpful.

On a side note...
Have I become a postaholic or something? My name is up here 4 times in the top 10 posts. Sorry for all of the OT posts. Its just that you guys are about the only group of "Boarders" that dont give a bunch of immature answers to serious posts. I've never had any problems with anyone flaming here either.

Check this place out:

http://www.techsoup.org/

If you take the time to get set up with them, they have really good prices on software for non-profits. Check out the TechSoup Stock tab. They're selling Office 2003 Pro for a $20 admin fee. We just purchased 50 Office licenses through them. They also carry other software, even CISCO hardware.

Depending on the company (Microsoft, CISCO, etc), there's different criteria. For instance, with Microsoft products, you can only make like 2 purchases in a 2 year period, and you're limited to a certain number of licenses per product.

Wow... rock on Doof. That's just what we needed. That makes things super affordable. Sometimes the free alternatives just don't cut it.

Hey, no problem. I only found out about them a couple of months ago. Pretty happy with it. We bought 50 Office 2003 Pro licenses (which are backwards compatible for Office XP), and they sent us the documentation to get the product key (It's done through MS eOpen licensing), and they sent us the media kit as well. It didn't take long to get our order, either.
