Random not working
« on: November 23, 2004, 12:51:21 pm »

I'm still using version 11.105 and so I dont know if this is fixed or not, but, random is seriously not random right now.

Everytime I refresh my smartlists I am guaranteed to see one track from one of  two albums
(ie:I make a smartlist asking for 20 files of 4 stars and over tracks and sort it randomly.
I always get one track form Orbital and Tool even though the number of files from those two albums actually total about 8 tracks out of over a thousand)

This is regardless of where I have written "sort: random" in the rules list and this is happening in multiple smartlists, each with different rules (but with sort:random applied).

Anyone else seeing this? Should I post it as a bug?

I'm using 113 and have no problems with random here. I use random at work and have not had any issues in a very long time...

Now, that's not so bad!  Its not like you are guaranteed to get one track from Britney Spears or Jessica Simpson or something!   ;D

But seriously, you mentioned that you were running 11.0.105.  I would definately update to a newer build before I posted a "bug" message to the build thread (though you might want to wait for a post-129 build as there seem to be ripping and burning related problems with the current build -- or use 128 which I found to work very well).

Also, are you sure that you only have 8 tracks out of 1000 rated 4 stars or higher with no duplicates or anything?  Probably so, but it's worth checking I suppose (I'm sure you know this but an easy way to check would be to modify your list by removing the limit of 20).

In the end, it may be that build 105 just likes Orbital and Tool.  Not the worst taste it could have IMHO!   :)
