I was thinking about purchasing this application, Media Center, because I think it rocks - yet it keeps crashing with a "Media Core Application Error."  I have no clue what this is or how to fix it - but its quite annoying.

Any ideas?

P.S. Using the latest 10.0.173 media player - all the latest system updates, video card drivers, motherboard drivers.

It happens sometimes when adding files, and other times when playing mpegs.

I have a Amd 3200 system with 1 gb ram and about a terabyte of hard drive space.  No other media player (and I have about a dozen of them) crash.


XP SP2 with all the updates.  ATI 9800 Radeon, Nforce 2 Asus motherboard.

Try uninstalling and then reinstalling,

Are you always doing the same thing when it crashes? Do you have any 3rd party Plugins?

You may want to install MC11 and see if that does the same thing.

Tried uninstall - reinstall - still broke.  No third party plugins.

Haven't tried new version 11.

Unsure even what a media core dump is - can you explain?  Not sure why no other applications get this...

Media Core is a JRiver component.

Are you always doing the same thing when it crashes? What are you doing when it crashs.

It crashed with the same error using version 11 on a compeltely different system when adding files...

I have the saved error messages - but do not see a way of attaching them to this message.  Please advise.

Maybe the log file in MC 11.0.129 (or newer) could help.  Instructions here on how to check the log:

Send any files that cause MC to crash to matt @ jriver.com and we'll try to get it fixed ASAP.
