problem playing vob files
« on: December 04, 2004, 11:53:09 am »

I'm experiencing a problem with media center 10.0.
Vob files, ripped from a dvd, won't play...!

Anyone knows how to install a third party player or get media center to play the files? I don't want to rename the files to .mpg (funny thing is, they play without a problem when with this extension!).

Thanks!

This is a known issue with MC10, and with it renaming the files is, I suspect, your only choice.  I do however believe that this has been fixed in MC11 (maybe someone else would like to concur), but I'm not positive (and I don't have any VOB files to test because I convert them all to MPEG4 AVIs).  Why don't you want to rename them to MPG (because they are actually muxed MPEG files, just named weirdly for DVD format)?

Thanks for your help. Basically I don't want to rename them, because it's a lot of work, and i share the files over a VOB-network. Let's hope MC11 will have a VOB play ability and it finishes soon.
