Library on Networked Drive-->Problems
« on: December 08, 2004, 02:35:38 pm »

I am moving my Raid set from my HTPC to another PC, setting it up as a D: drive. On that drive is my music in a folder that was My Music. The other PC will not allow me to rename that folder as it thinks it is a system folder, I presume, which it was when it was on my HTPC.

Now, from teh HTPC I am trying to point the Base Path to that folder. It points there, but from the library it will not play the songs. They are all X'd out. I can open that folder from explorer, and double click on one, and play it.

Any ideas of solutions for this? (I suppose I could create another directory  and copy it all there, and point to that...but hoping I don't have to do that. Not sure if all my pics, library tags, etc, will get messed up or not.)

Well, since posting this, I thought I had it figured out from a different angle.

I loaded JRM on the other computer, and loaded the Media Server. Worked...for a while. Not now. I get the Xs on the files.

I tried just importing them from the networked drive. Worked...for a while. Same problem.

But, I can still open a folder and Double click a file and it plays fine.

It seems to me that JRM has a problem with the network drive, but if I launch it from teh OS and the OS calls JRM, it's OK.

BTW...I'm on version 10.0.161. It says there are no updates, but I had thought I had seen a newer one. I guess I'll go search for that and see if that helps.
