Sorting MC11, foreign characters
« on: January 17, 2005, 07:20:52 am »

I've discovered that there is a "bug" in sorting.

In sweden we have 3 characters that are positioned last in our alphabet. As it is now in MC11 they all get sorted in the wrong places.

Our alphabet goes like this: abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzåäö and ABCDEFGHJIKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZÅÄÖ.

I understand that this is not a high priority issue but I'd widely appreciate a fix. I guess other languages might have similar problems.

All Scandinavian languages and at least german also have this problem. We in Finland would also like to have this fixed.

By design accents are ignored during searching and sorting.  This was a widely requested feature a while back.

May I ask if the requestors were from countries that use Å, Ä and Ö ? Most likely not, but then maybe we're not the major marketing target group either.
