File Position Information ...
« on: January 13, 2005, 02:01:41 pm »

I've been setting up MC 10 (and now playing with 11) to use for a HTPC type of arrangment.  The problem I have is seeing the length of a song or video and where I am in within that file.

In full screen mode, that info appears up in the top little bars (when they appear) but it is far to small to see from any distance at all.

Is there a plug-in that does this, or a setting that I'm missing, that will display this info more prominently.  Or, even better, is there a way I can query this information from Girder?  If the SendMessage information for this kind of query is available, I would love to be pointed toward it.

Thanks,
Bill

You could use a visualisation and customise it to show the info you want.  Check out the Clean and Tidy Visualisation as this shows a countdown of the remaining playing time.  You can customise an existing visualisation or create your own using visualisation studio.

Another option is to use NetRemote on a pocket PC to control MC remotely as this can show the current track position and duration as well as letting you browse your library and control all aspects of playback.

Thanks, this solution works for audio.  But as far as I can tell, this won't work for video clips.

The netremote option might do this, but I was looking for a way to display the information on the main screen.  Particularly usefull for fast-forwarding and rewinding.

Besides, I don't happen to have a pocket pc...

I started trying to use luacom and MJAutomation objects to develop this myself.  Then, I realized that the DVDSpy plug-in actually did what I wanted already.  Just install the plug-in and look at the included dvd2osd.gml file.
