Managing Recently Imported
« on: March 13, 2006, 09:58:27 am »

when I import a folder to MC, I can see all the images/videos/music in recently importen list, but itīs imposible manage files from here, and I have to locate this files in Audio list, later in Video list, etc.

Itīs posible to show panels in Recently Imported like I can in Audio/Video/Images list?

Sorry for my bad english.

No, but there's nothing preventing you from creating your own recently imported viewscheme :)

except that if you delete files from that viewscheme you delete them for good, not just from the recently imported smartlist.

I think that if album thumbnails view were an option it would make organising the smartlist a bit easier (i know that would break the sequence though). I dont delete stuff from the playilst after its not "recent" anymore. Instead i delete stuff when i've heard it lots and can remember it well.

Three shortcut buttons in the title (Audio/Images/Video) might also really help to break the list down a bit. (I know you can accomplish this using the search field at the moment, but it takes time and lots of clicking).

I don't think we're quite on the same page here. I'm thinking 'viewschemes', not 'playlists'.
If you select files in any viewscheme and press delete, you will get the 'delete' dialogue offering the three options:
remove from library
recycle bin
permanantly delete (remove from hard disc).

the default, MC maintained 'recently imported' is more a playlist than a smartlist. perhaps 'recently' imported was not quite the correct name for what I had in mind. 'date' imported would probably be more appropriate.

that example includes every file in the library. you could also make viewschemes filtered by media type, thus dispensing with the first pane, and choosing others more suited to the filtered media type. people/places/events for pictures, for example.

There's lots you could do to tweak this.
you could make an "imported in the past 7 days" viewscheme by adding [date imported]=<=7d to step 4
remove the year and month panes, replacing them with a day pane. if you use formatdate([date imported,0],dddd) for the day pane, you will get Monday, Tuesday, etc. rather 13, 14, etc.
Nice :)
