Image Thumbnails Tentative Suggestion
« on: March 02, 2005, 01:18:56 pm »

OK, so as a belated birthday present to myself I have a new digital camera - w00t! Was a bit disappointed not to get a PM from the board though - whats the point of the forum calendar? :)

To accompany this I have upgraded to the latest Photoshop Elements (v3) which now contains an organiser application. Ive been flirting with the enemy. Now AFAIK this is not necessarily direct competition for MC: very much oriented to capturing, touching up and making pretty birthday cards and stuff from your photos (and theres nothing wrong with that). Im not going to write an in depth comparison. I havent used PE enough yet anyway.

If youve got this far though, heres the point - PE has a 'dynamic thumbnail' default view - in the 'library view' a slider allows you to adjust thumbnail size to go from 1 photo on screen to almost as many as will fit, before selecting them for edit/playback/etc. This is in real time - the images resize on screen as you move the slider. Im sure its probably too late for v11, but I think this system for thumbnail view would be an improvement in some future release of MC. I find it very natural to browse through the library and zoom up the thumbnails to examine images as take my interest.
