Problem with music library.......
« on: March 05, 2005, 05:11:30 pm »

Please Help!!

I have multiple P.C.s pointing to a library on the server.  Three of the P.Cs work perfectly.  They are set up with the library pointing to \\office\data.
When I do the same thing on my 4th P.C. media center sees the library and sees the cover art (if you leave the cursor over the file) but if you try to play a song if gives me the error:

warning
media center was unable to play any of the files in the play list

please make sure that the path in media library points to the right location and that the files are not being filtered by access control

access control is not being used on any of the P.Cs.  Also, I am able to point to one of the files on the server, double click it and it opens in media center and it plays fine.

Thanks for any help.

Anyone have an idea to atleast throw out? I would asume it is a setting with MC since I can double click the file in explore, have it get added to MC, and play. MC was installed with all default settings and this is a fresh install on XP home SP2.

Please help!

MC has a limit on the number of clients for each server.  It's possible that's the problem.

What version are you running?  You can copy your system info from MC Help and paste it here.

The version is 10.0.173 (latest download using the check for updates)

I have five pc's total. I am not using the media server portion because it does not work with musiclobby/mainlobby software. So just using the \\office\data in the field works flawless.

I believe this is the info you requested:

Media Center Registered 10.0.173 -- C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center\

Microsoft Windows XP 5.1 Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)
Intel Pentium 4 1681 MHz MMX / Memory: Total - 196 MB, Free - 64 MB

Internet Explorer: 6.0.2900.2180 / ComCtl32.dll: 5.82 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158) / Shlwapi.dll: 6.00.2900.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158) / Shell32.dll: 6.00.2900.2578 (xpsp_sp2_gdr.041130-1729) / wnaspi32.dll: N/A
Ripping /   Drive I:   Mode:Normal  Type:Auto  Speed:Max
Digital playback: Yes /  Use YADB: Yes /  Get cover art: No /  Calc replay gain: Yes /  Copy volume: 32767
Eject after ripping: Yes /  Play sound after ripping: No

Burning /  No burners found.
Test mode: No /  Eject after writing: Yes /  Direct decoding: Yes /  Write CD-Text: Yes
Use playback settings: No /  Normalization: None

Thanks for any help! greatly appreciated!

I Got IT!

I had the mapped drive to office named as z:. I removed the mapped drive, created a new with letter d: (my music files point to d:\music\...) since it was looking at z: it did not see the files.

Thanks anyway!
